Hilarious animated sequel, with the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas. The ogre’s wedded bliss is shattered when he and wife Fiona travel to the kingdom of Far Far Away to meet her parents, the King and Queen. After an icy reception, Shrek and Donkey unwittingl­y get caught up in a plot by the wicked Fairy Godmother to get him out of the picture for good so her son, the vain Prince Charming, can marry Fiona and claim the crown.

Back to the Future Part II (1984) Channel 4, 4.35pm

The second instalment in Robert Zemeckis’s classic sci-fi adventure, starring Michael J Fox, Christophe­r Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Thomas F Wilson. Teenager Marty McFly isn’t done with his time-travelling just yet. He is flung into the far future of 2015, where an incident with a Tannen relative disrupts the timeline in a way that could destroy everything. Now Marty must travel back to 1955 again to put things right for good.

creed (2016) ITV2, 7.20pm

Ryan Coogler’s hard-hitting drama, starring Michael B Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson. Boxer Adonis Johnson, the son of much-loved former champ Apollo Creed, wants to make it in the sport without living in his father’s shadow. He recruits the help of boxing veteran Rocky Balboa, who agrees to train him using his less-than-convention­al methods.

the counSellor (2013) RTE2, 9pm

Ridley Scott’s thriller, written by Cormac McCarthy, stars Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt. A lawyer gets involved in a friend’s drug traffickin­g scheme. However, their plans take a shocking turn, which brings them to the attention of dangerous criminals who want them dead.

MONDAY MIracle on 34th Street (1994) Film4, 6.35pm

Festive family drama, starring Richard Attenborou­gh, Elizabeth Perkins and Dylan McDermott. Six-year-old Susan doesn’t believe that Santa Claus is real. However, she finds herself tested when she meets a department store Santa who claims to be the real deal.

douBle JeoPardy (1999) TG4, 9.30pm

Thriller, starring Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones. Libby is accused of killing her husband Nick and serves six years in prison before being paroled. However, that entire time she has remained certain that he faked his death. Armed with a legal loophole, she sets out to find and murder him, knowing that she cannot be charged for the same crime twice.

SIn cIty: a daMe to kIll For (2014) Film4, 11.25pm

Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s second outing in the stylish noir-inspired crime drama, starring Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. A number of shady characters find their lives interweavi­ng in the depraved city, including Marv, who attempts to retrace his steps from the wild and bloody night before, and cocky gambler Johnny, who is about to learn the meaning of all or nothing. Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, Eva Green and Ray Liotta also feature in the ensemble cast.

TUESDAY the MartIan (2015) Film4, 9pm

Ridley Scott’s Oscar-nominated sci-fi drama, with Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. A mission to Mars goes horribly wrong for the crew, leaving one of them stranded on its harsh surface. Left with limited supplies and no way of contacting Earth, the astronaut must come up with inventive ways to survive.

roBocoP (2014) Film4, 11.50pm

Remake of the classic sci-fi action, starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Samuel L Jackson. In the year 2028, top cop Alex Murphy is critically injured while trying to stop a gang of dangerous criminals. A faceless corporatio­n sees this as an opportunit­y to test out their experiment­al procedure, which transforms Murphy into an emotionles­s cyborg officer.

WEDNESDAY FantaStIc Four: rISe oF the SIlver SurFer (2007) E4, 8pm

Comicbook sequel, starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis. It’s finally the big day for superheroe­s Reed Richards and Susan Storm. However, their wedding is interrupte­d by the arrival of a powerful alien, who tells them that Earth has been targeted by the planeteati­ng Galactus. Now teaming with former villain Victor Von Doom, the foursome must find a way to stop this gigantic threat.

Bad teacher (2011) Virgin Media 2, 12m’t

Comedy, with Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel and Justin Timberlake. Elizabeth is used to getting everything she wants in life, until her partner dumps her. Now in need of money, she must return to her old teaching job, which she hates. However, things may be looking up, as she finds out that a new employee is very wealthy — all she has to do is seduce him.

the rewrIte (2014) Channel 4, 1.05am

Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei star in this touching comedy. Acclaimed Hollywood screenwrit­er Keith Michaels grows weary of his life in LA. He decides to move out to the East Coast, where he takes a job teaching at a college and falls for a single mum on his course.

ThUrSDAY terMInator GenISyS (2015) Film4, 9pm

The latest instalment in the action-packed sci-fi saga stars Arnold Schwarzene­gger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke (below) and Jai Courtney. The future war between humans and robots rages on, when resistance leader John Connor decides to send his companion Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah. However, the past has not panned out the way he had been told, as he finds a gun-toting Sarah teaming with a reprogramm­ed terminator fighting for their survival against a new robotic threat.

an unexPected love (2003) TG4, 12.05am

Drama, starring Leslie Hope, Wendy Crewson and DW Moffett. Kate is a married housewife with two children, but finds herself unhappy with her life. She decides to separate from her husband and gets a job with an estate agent, where she falls in love with her new boss.

FrIDAY the FuGItIve (1993) ITV4, 9pm

Thriller, starring Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Sela Ward and Julianne Moore. Dr Richard Kimble has his life turned upside down when he is falsely accused of murdering his wife. However, he refuses to go down for a crime he didn’t commit and goes on the run. Now it’s up to him to figure out what actually happened, before the authoritie­s — led by determined US Marshal Samuel Gerard — track him down.

rocky (1976) RTE2, 9.30pm

Classic drama, starring Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire, Burt Young and Carl Weathers. Small-time boxer Rocky Balboa has toiled away for years in the ring, but with minimal success. However, he finally gets his shot at the big time when he is chosen to take on world heavyweigh­t champion, Apollo Creed, in a fight that no one expects Rocky to win.

tanGo and caSh (1989) RTE2, 11.45pm

Comedy action, starring Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell and Teri Hatcher. Mismatched cops Raymond Tango and Gabriel Cash are set up by the ruthless drug lord they are trying to take down. They are arrested and thrown behind bars, and have to put their heads together if they are to escape and clear their names.

SATUrDAY Jack FroSt (1998)

RTE1, 6.35pm Feel-good family adventure, with Michael Keaton, Kelly Preston and Mark Addy. Jack’s young son is left devastated after his father dies in a car accident. However, no one can believe it when his dad comes back as a talking snowman. Now Jack has the chance to put things right with his family, before he melts away.

haIl, caeSar! (2016)

Channel 4, 11.35pm The Coen Brothers’s comedy, starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich and Tilda Swinton. In 1950s Hollywood, a fixer struggles to keep the peace between a top studio and their stars, while also keeping a dramatic turn of events out of the hands of the press.
