There are smiles and smiles to go in life

-

Sir — Kathleen Corrigan’s letter (Stay happy, Sunday Independent, November 25) was entertaining. If more people would follow that example and smile more, it would make a more pleasant world.

It brings to mind some old sayings such as: “Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep, and you weep alone.” “Something that is no good until it’s given away? Answer: a smile.”

An old Chinese proverb — “Man without smiling face should not open shop.”

Finally, my own makie-uppie — “There is not VAT on a smile”. Leo Gormley, Dundalk, Co, Louth
