Java Republic to be put up for sale after ‘best-ever year’

- Michael Cogley

IRISH-OWNED coffee roaster Java Republic is to be put up for sale, it is understood.

The company, which was established by entrepreneur David McKernan in 1999, made a €409,000 profit in 2017. Java Republic coffee is served in more than 1,200 venues in Ireland. The business also owns two cafes and employs 77 people.

A UK-based financial advisory firm is handling the process, according to sources. The company declined to comment on “speculation” and said it “remained focused on delivering our mission” and that 2018 will be its “best-ever” year.
