Rosie and Wes plan to Christmas in Wicklow

-

Should the International Monetary Fund be alerted now, and look to get the recovery started early, as Mauritius appears likely to plunge into a recession?

This I say because none other than Rosanna Davison has just told me that she and husband Wesley Quirke are not making their annual Christmas trip to Mauritius. She is instead planning — shock horror! — “a quiet and relaxing Christmas at the family home in Wicklow”.

“It will be lots of food, fun and silly jokes,” Rosanna said, adding that she has “no plans to go away anywhere in January. We may do a family trip sometime in the spring but my course doesn’t finish until January 15”, Rosanna said in reference to the master of science in personalised nutrition that she’s studying for at Middlesex Uni, “and one of my brothers [Michael] will be in Canada with his Canadian girlfriend, so we weren’t able to commit to it this year”.

Tell that to the Mauritians who will be weeping openly at the news that the Irish beauty is not coming for Christmas.

Rosanna joined the throngs weeping with joy recently when she attended the Aviva for a certain game. “It was great to see Ireland finally beating the All Blacks on home soil.”

Speaking of soil, this time in Naas, Chris de Burgh’s daughter will be the guest judge for the Best Dressed Lady competition at Naas Racecourse at its January 6 winter meeting.

“That’s something I’m really looking forward to,” she told me. “The photoshoot we did to launch it was great fun and my co-star Imaran was an absolute pleasure to work with.” Wesley needn’t be worried. Imaran is a horse. In the meantime, Rosanna will ring in the New Year with a party at her other half ’s new venture, the Carlton Casino Club in Dublin. As I’ve said before, the former Miss World does not have what you’d call a poker face.
