Three die in explosion at Paris bakery
Two firefighters and one Spanish tourist were killed and 47 injured in an explosion yesterday at a bakery in central Paris — apparently caused by a gas leak.
Firefighters pulled injured victims from windows and evacuated residents as smoke billowed over Rue de Trevise in the 9th arrondissement of north-central Paris, around the corner from the Folies-Bergere theatre.
The firefighters were already at the scene to investigate a suspected gas leak at the bakery when the explosion happened.
The accident occurred with Paris under lockdown for a ninth consecutive Saturday of “yellow vest” protests, with large parts of the French capital blocked off by riot police.
