Victoria’s in Morocco as Brippa fly in from Dubai
Afairytale of Marrakesh? Victoria Mary Clarke is currently in Morocco for her birthday. Her husband Shane MacGowan was good enough to get her “a silver compass to find my way in the desert. I think it is very old”, Victoria told me, adding that she also received “an amber necklace and a few djellabas”.
What wisdoms came with age? “I may have learned to prioritise feeling good and trying to be as tolerant and compassionate as possible.”
Brian Ormond and Pippa O’Connor meanwhile were in Dubai for 10 days just after Christmas.
Looking fresh and tanned, Brippa were in the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge last Monday to plan their Blossom Ball at the hotel on February 9 in aid of Variety. (The hotel’s Louis Copeland-clad general manager Nicky Logue was spotted in Ashford Castle enjoying a short, post-New Year break.)
Not quite as far as Marrakesh or Dubai, but on to Strasbourg where Lucinda Creighton was last week. She was spotted en route in Terminal Two at Dublin Airport. Lucinda met up with her old Trinity College pals in a house party in Castleknock on December 29. Those at the pre NYE bash included the King of the ’Knock himself Leo Varadkar — the epitome of An T off-work/casual chic in a zip-down sweater with a T-shirt underneath — as well as Leo’s friends Nollaig Crowley and Kate Concannon.
I do hope Leo won’t be making a habit of public airings of zip-down sweaters.
