David Tennant Does A Podcast With... https://play.acast.com/s/davidtennant

Journalists interviewing actors can be very hit-and-miss (amply demonstrated by Liam Neeson’s recent rape remarks...) but strangely, actors talking to other actors can work well.

Here, David Tennant gets in-depth with other members of his profession, starting with Olivia Colman, hotly tipped for an Oscar for her performance in The Favourite. She is, predictably, funny, charming, smart, discussing the irritations of bad drivers along with the keeping of secrets on Broadchurch.

Then there’s Whoopi Goldberg who reveals that many years ago, she asked BBC bosses if she could be the first female Doctor Who. “The idea of that just made me so happy,” she says. The answer was no, but it seems fitting that Tennant is soon to be joined by Jodie Whittaker, who did of course become the first female Doctor, and later by another ‘doctor’; Michael Sheen, star of The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.

Conviction http://www.gimletmedia.com/

There seems no end to the number of unsolved cases and potential miscarriages of justice to feed the busy appetite for true crime stories. This has a ready-made hero in the person of Manuel Gomez, a detective on a mission.

He is a fan of Sherlock Holmes and Miami Vice, and is determined to resolve cases of wrongful conviction, specifically the many young men in New York City who claim to be imprisoned for crimes they didn’t commit.

Here, reporter Saki Knafo follows Gomez as he examines police brutality, via the case of Pedro Hernandez, arrested as a teenager for a shooting in The Bronx, who then spent more than a year in prison while his family tried to prove his innocence.
