SAS: Who Dares Wins, Channel 4, 9pm It has been a tough road for the contestants who have made it this far into the ordeal. However, for those who are left, the most difficult challenge is yet to come. The final eight recruits must undergo a series of physical and emotional interrogation methods, carried out by a group of nononsense professionals. If they can outlast the tests — which include stress positions, white noise and relentless grilling — then they will have proven themselves against the toughest aspects of the SAS’s training. The British Academy Film Awards, BBC1, 9pm Actor Joanna Lumley hosts this evening’s glitzy affair, as the road to the Oscars draws nearer. This event is all about acknowledging the biggest films of the year, and the work carried out both in front of and behind the camera. Black comedy The Favourite leads the pack with 12 nominations, with leading lady Olivia Colman a firm favourite to pick up Best Actress. Other nominees across a number of categories include Glenn Close, Viggo Mortensen, Viola Davis, Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and Steve Coogan. Dermot Bannon’s Incredible Homes, RTE1, 9.30pm Ireland’s much-loved architect is back on the scene, with this new series taking him around the world and giving him the opportunity to check out some of the most sensational homes. Each edition sees him check out some of the most jawdropping abodes in locations including Sweden, London and Australia, and this opener begins in the latter’s bustling metropolis of Sydney.
MONDAY
The Secret Lives of Slim People, Channel 4, 8.30pm
This new four-part series examines those who are lucky enough to stay skinny, despite not sticking to any particular exercise routine and seemingly eating whatever they want. Host Sabrina Grant is taken on an eyeopening journey, as she meets mother-of-three Hayley who is a self-confessed chocaholic and Rinia, who remains thin despite a constant diet of greasy takeaways. MasterChef, BBC1, 9pm Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace return for a new series of the culinary competition, as a new batch of contestants look to prove themselves. In this opener, the first seven hopefuls get the chance to impress, and must cook up one dish for John and Gregg. From there only four advance to the next challenge, which sees them prepare two more courses for this evening’s special guest judges — last year’s finalists Nawamin Pinpathomrat and David Crichton, and 2018 champion Kenny Tutt. The best three move to the quarter final. The 61st Annual Grammy Awards, RTE2, 9.30pm It’s a big week for glamorous award shows, with this event celebrating some of the biggest achievements in popular music over the last 12 months. Singer Alicia Keys — a 15-time winner herself — presents this time, with nominees including Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, the latter two for their hit song Shallow from the soundtrack to their muchhyped film, A Star is Born.
TUESDAY
Getaways, RTE1, 8.30pm It’s the last adventure of the series, as hosts Joe Lindsay and Vogue Williams travel to Hong Kong to check out the vibrant city’s stuffed street food menu, and visit the Big Buddha that is located on Lantau Island. Meanwhile, Tommy Bowe’s final trip keeps him a little bit closer to home with a visit to Carlingford in Co Louth. Shetland, BBC1, 9pm Douglas Henshall returns for the fifth series of the nail-biting detective drama. It’s a disturbing first case back for Perez and the team, who leap into action after the remains of multiple body parts start washing up on a beach. It’s up to them to make sense of it, but things quickly take a sinister and shocking turn. Great British Sewing Bee, BBC2, 9pm The sewing competition returns to our screens for a new series, along with brand new host Joe Lycett. Over eight weeks, contestants will face daunting design and pattern challenges, with every stitch scrutinised by fashion designers, Patrick Grant and Esme Young. Their first task is to work with cotton fabric. Catastrophe, Channel 4, 10pm The comedy concludes another series, as Rob and Sharon land stateside for a family holiday in Boston. However, things get off to a bad start when they receive tragic news about his mother. Meanwhile, things get further complicated for Rob when he receives a tempting offer from an old friend, and the couple meet an estranged family member.
WEDNESDAY
Strictly Business, RTE1, 7.30pm Business whiz Sonya Lennon arrives to help another hopeful business owner looking to take their idea to the next level. This week she is in Wicklow, where Eoin Shanley wants to see his artisan light-making business, Copper Fish Studio, grow its supply reach. However, there’s a lot to do before the small-time company can achieve that goal. The Real Marigold on Tour, BBC1, 9pm Miriam Margolyes, Bobby George and Sheila Ferguson are back on their travels — this time joined by new recruit Stanley Johnson — and eager to discover what retirement is like for seniors around the globe. In this opener, they head to Russia, where Stanley quickly divides opinion due to his political standpoint. This could be a long trip for him. Condor, RTE2, 9pm This modern adaptation of the classic novel Six Days of the Condor stars Max Irons, William

Hurt, Leem Lubany and Brendan Fraser, and begins tonight with an action-packed double bill. CIA analyst Joe Turner discovers that a state-of-the-art algorithm that he developed is now being used to monitor civilians. However, he begins to unravel a terrorist threat, which results in him landing directly in harm’s way. How to Be Good with Money, RTE1, 8.30pm Eoin McGee brings this series to an end by helping a struggling couple attempt to get on top of their finances, despite having to provide for two small children while working two busy jobs. The expert has a couple of months to get them back on track; all they have to do is follow his words of wisdom. First Dates: Valentine’s Special, RTE2, 9.30pm The fourth series of the popular dating show continues, with this special edition to mark the most romantic day of the year. Singletons on the look out for love include 22-year-old Canadian waitress Shaw and surfer dude Sheyar, also 22, who are both holding out for a hero. Beidh Aonach Amarach, TG4, 9.30pm The observational documentary series concludes this evening in grand fashion, with a special look behind the scenes at Tullamore, the biggest one-day livestock show in Europe. There is so much to do and take in, and it proves to be a busy day for those taking part, including Ballyduff pedigree cattle farmers Matt and Rita Goulding. Bridget & Eamon, RTE2, 10.30pm The duo conclude another series of their side-splitting sitcom. Money woes mean that Bridget and Eamon must take in a lodger. Veronica appears to be the perfect candidate, but there is something that doesn’t quite sit well about her — in fact, the new resident is beginning to bear a strange resemblance to one of the aliens on the couple’s favourite television show.

Can’t Stop Dancing, RTE1, 8.30pm Sunday night was switch up week, in which the famous faces who were left in the competition had to perform while being paired with a new professional partner. This evening, host Blathnaid Treacy finds out how everyone found the experience, as she gets all of the juicy behind-the-scenes gossip. The Graham Norton Show, BBC1, 11.05pm This week the host is joined by actors Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer, who discuss their new film, On the Basis of Sex. Also on the sofa are comedian and writer Stephen Merchant, who discusses his upcoming directorial outing, Fighting With My Family. Also, comedian Rob Beckett discusses his involvement with talent show All Together Now, before Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone Man perform their single Giant.

Great British Car Journeys, Channel 4, 8pm Actors and good pals Peter Davison and Christopher Timothy conclude their epic road trip this evening. They begin with taking in the scenic beauty of the Rhondda Valley, a former coal mining region in Wales, before heading towards the Brecon Beacons and on towards breathtaking Snowdonia. The duo also learn about the history of the The Automobile Association — the AA — before meeting up with an old companion of Chris’s. The Ray D’Arcy Show, RTE1, 9.50pm The host is back for another lively edition of his late-night talk show, and is ready to prove why no one trumps him for Saturday night entertainment. As always, he has an excellent assortment of special guests waiting backstage, who are eager to pop out for a chat. Whether they are from the worlds of entertainment, sports, politics or beyond, you know that Ray will have no problem getting them talking.
