Sunday The Zoo RTE1, 6.30pm

The much-loved fly-on-the-wall documentar­y that gives viewers a glimpse inside Dublin Zoo returns for its eighth series. In this opener, cameras capture an Amur tiger who is preparing for the birth of her first cubs, and a newcomer male western lowland gorilla who, keepers hope, will one day take over the troop.

Louis Theroux: Mothers on the Edge BBC2, 9pm

The filmmaker returns with this hard-hitting one-off special, as he visits two different specialist psychiatri­c units in the UK that offer support to women who suffer from postpartum mental health problems.

The Girl on the Train (2016) Channel 4, 9pm

Suspensefu­l drama, with Emily Blunt. A divorcee gets the same train every day, which takes her past her old house where a new couple now live. She starts to create the story of their lives in her head, but when she witnesses a shocking act, she finds herself interferin­g in their lives.

MOnday Tricks of the Restaurant Trade Channel 4, 8.30pm

The team returns for a new series as they offer up advice on how to improve the dining experience, either at home or while eating out. This opener includes a look at Wagamama’s Noodle Lab and tips on the latest waste food apps.

Elysium (2013) TG4, 9.30pm

Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi drama, with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. In a future where the super-rich live in an advanced space station while everyone else suffers on a dying Earth, one man finds himself on a mission that could bring equality to all.

How to Live Better for Longer RTE1, 9.35pm

Dr Eva Orsmond hosts this new series, which sees her offer advice on how to improve health and dietary issues, with the help of a team of experts and volunteers.

TuESday The Cruise Virgin Media 1, 7.30pm

The documentar­y series that takes viewers on board one of the world’s largest luxury cruise ships, the Royal Princess, returns for a new run, as the crew feel the tension in the air as they approach one of the busiest holiday destinatio­ns in all of the Mediterran­ean.

Years and Years BBC1, 9pm

Russell T Davis’s new six-part drama, starring Emma Thompson, follows an average British family over a number of years as they attempt to adjust to the unpredicta­ble political climate following the rise of a controvers­ial new politician.

WEdnESday The Virtues Channel 4, 9pm

This Is England creator Shane Meadows reunites with star Stephen Graham for this new four-part drama. It tells the story of Joseph, a painter-decorator and recovering alcoholic from Sheffield. After going through a failing custody battle for his son, he decides that it is finally time to revisit the shadowy memories of his own difficult childhood.

The Equalizer (2014) RTE1, 9.35pm

Antoine Fuqua’s thriller, starring Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz. A man with a mysterious past takes matters into his own hands when a young prostitute he has been getting to know is left beaten. However, his actions bring him to the attention of a more dangerous foe.

Pat Kenny’s Big Debate Virgin Media 1, 10pm

The veteran host presents this lively discussion about Brexit, which looks at it from both an Irish and internatio­nal point of view.

ThurSday Eurovision Song Contest RTE2, 8pm

The second of this year’s semifinals sees Ireland’s Sarah McTernan perform her track 22, in the hopes of advancing to Saturday night’s extravagan­za.

Friends with Benefits (2011) Virgin Media 1, 9pm

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake star in this rom-com about two singletons whose ‘no strings attached’ relationsh­ip ends up getting complicate­d in a hurry.

FrIday Puppy School Channel 4, 8pm

This new series sees three of the UK’s leading dog experts offer advice to people who have just become puppy parents, as the experts make sure they are ready for all of the ups and downs that come with having a young dog.

The Graham Norton Show BBC1, 11.05pm

Jack Whitehall steps in as host tonight, and chats to actors Gwendoline Christie and Luke Evans and singer Paloma Faith.

Free Fire (2017) Channel 4, 12.35am

Comedic crime caper, with Sharlto Copley, Brie Larson (left), Cillian Murphy and Michael Smiley. Two shady gangs meet up in a remote warehouse to carry out what should be a simple gun deal which quickly descends into chaos.

Fingers crossed that Sarah McTernan has made it into tonight’s colourful singing contest.
