Darran Heaney’s Dublin
Dublin is a great place for interiors shopping, particularly at the weekend. If I wasn’t staying at home in Phibsboro,
I’d stay in the Dean, because it is cool and central. The decor is beautiful and it is full of unique furniture and art works.
On Friday, I’d browse the Creative Quarter around South William Street and George’s Street.
It’s full of quirky shops such as Article, Irish Design Shop and Industry, that stock everything from prints to crockery. I’d then kick off the evening with drinks in Farrier and Draper or Drury Buildings and keep dinner casual at 777 or Pi Pizza.
On Saturday, I’d hunt for antiques or vintage finds on Francis Street,
You never know what you might pick up in Anonymous or Oxfam Home. Macs Salvage in Islandbridge is also well worth checking out. Then lunch across the road in Storyboard Cafe, or up the road in Union 8 Cafe.
On a Saturday night, Mr Fox on Dublin’s northside,
is incredible. They have a little bar for pre- or post-dinner drinks.
I’m a huge fan of Two Boys Brew in Phibsboro for their excellent brunch.
Order avo mash with chorizo and get there early to avoid a queue. Then a stroll around the Botanic Gardens and finish with a pint of Guinness in the Gravedigger’s pub. The perfect Sunday!
