Historical hotel

-

If ever a hotel had a history, it’s The Commodore Hotel in Cobh. Opened in 1854 as The Queen’s Hotel to commemorate Queen Victoria’s arrival, it saw the ill-fated departure of the Titanic a few yards from its doorstep, and also housed survivors of the Lusitania disaster. It has had many celebrities visit, including the legendary boxer and film star Jack Doyle and his wife, Movita — who later married Marlon Brando. The Commodore is now under the baton of well-known hotelier/restaurateur John Gately, who’s steering it on a new journey. See commodorehotel.ie Lucinda O’Sullivan
