Bishop warns against reliance on FDI
A Bishop has called for greater investment in “indigenous industries and innovations” after the announcement of significant job losses in Munster last week. Bishop of Cork and Ross Fintan Gavin said the loss of 320 jobs at the Novartis pharmaceutical plant in Ringaskiddy highlights how communities are heavily dependent on foreign direct investment (FDI).
He called on the government and IDA Ireland to minimise the impact of the job losses.
