Yvonne and Sharon up the culture ante

-

It was all go in Kirwan’s Lane fancy seafood restaurant in Galway. But isn’t it always? It was an unofficial culture night in one of the city’s most celebrated eateries as feted musicians Sharon Shannon and Yvonne Tiernan had a long dinner with two pals before going to the Sinead O’Connor’s gig nearby.

Two nights later, beautiful Yvonne, who sings with The Raines, celebrated her birthday. Yvonne is married to a certain Tommy Tiernan, so I can only imagine that she had a great laugh to mark her big day.

John Keating — your diarist’s favourite artist after Guggi, natch — had cause to celebrate too. No, not another big international exhibition. This time it was because John and his wife Miriam’s two daughters Rebecca and Ruth have been called to the Irish Bar.

“We are full of admiration for this next step,” John told me. “I am also delighted to be included in the forthcoming International Artists Diary published in Milan by Libreria Bocca, established in 1775.”

John is preparing for a solo exhibition Heads, Hands, Life Fragments and Still Life in the Tipperary County Museum, Clonmel, from November 22 to January 18.
