Mrs Cowan’s garcon says bonjour to Paris

-

Mademoiselle Brown’s Garcons? Rory Cowan is swapping Fair City for the City of Light next week.

The author of Mrs Cowan’s Boy — and the perfect Christmas gift — is jetting to a wedding in Paris.

And not just any wedding. This will go on all week. On the Wednesday the former star of Mrs Brown’s Boys, who is now one of the star turns in Fair City, will attend a bachelor party for his Israeli friends, Jonathon and Thierry, who are getting married on the Thursday in the French capital.

“While Israel recognises gay marriage and has done for years,” explains Rory, “by law only a rabbi can perform a wedding, and the rabbis won’t marry same-sex couples.

“Because one of them was born in France, they are getting married there.”

On the Friday, Rory added, they all “go on a cruise along the Seine. Then there’s a shabbat dinner on Friday night.

Friday dusk until Saturday dusk is the Jewish sabbath. That’ll be great fun. All my Israeli friends will be there.

“On Saturday I’m going shopping and sight-seeing… the last time I was in Paris was when I was in EMI with Aslan. They were doing a gig to introduce their new singer who was brought in to replace Christy Dignan, who they’d just fired. Huge mistake by them. Christy was irreplaceable.”

Just like Rory in Mrs Brown’s Boys, n’est-ce pas?

Meanwhile back in Ireland, RTE superstar Kathryn Thomas was in 37 last Friday night with husband Padraig McLoughlin where they had Espresso Martinis.

Operation Espresso Martini?

The happy couple, who recently got married, arrived at midnight into the plush establishment on Dawson Street with a group of friends, repairing to 37’s Whiskey Bar.

My Deep Throat tells me that the Operation Transformation guru and her beau et al had just come from a ball.

Over at House on Leeson Street last Wednesday night, Lucy Kennedy, Louis Walsh, Roz Purcell and Rosanna Davison scrubbed up well for the Tan Organic Beauty Blog Awards.

Air Miles Rosanna told your diarist that she is, unusually, not going away for Halloween.

“Our baby is due within the next few weeks so I don’t want to risk being away if she decides to arrive earlier than expected.”
