An eye for an eye leaves a cruel toll
■ Sir — Last week in the Sunday Independent Eilis O’Hanlon wrote a raw account of the traumatic effects the
Troubles had on her family.
The uplifting aspect of her story was that — like her — the majority of victims eschewed violence and revenge in response to the injustices they endured. Two wrongs would never make a right, and they knew that “to take up a gun” would only “add to the injustices of others”.
An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind.
