Zeus scooters urges Greens to get moving with laws

-

IRISH company Zeus Electric Scooters launched its shared scooter rental scheme in Heidelberg, Germany, last month and will move on to Ulm, also in Germany, on July 27.

Zeus, founded by Damian Young, former head of SME banking at Bank of Ireland, has now signed agreements for six German cities and is in discussions with the UK’s transport department about bringing its three-wheeled electric scooter to cities there.

With Eamon Ryan of the Greens holding the transport portfolio, the company hopes the Government will see electric scooters as a means of easing traffic congestion in Irish cities. It is also seen as a safe way to travel amid Covid transmission concerns.

Zeus, together with a number of other micro mobility providers, has written to Ryan urging the new Government to prioritise legislation for scooters.

A RESULT is due from a Siptu ballot on work practice changes at Aer Lingus.

Trade union officials agreed a proposal with the airline a few weeks back, telling ground staff it would save jobs and protect against further savage wage cuts.

But even shop stewards thought otherwise and expressed anger that there was no ballot. When cabin crew rejected the same deal it all fell apart and new but similar proposals were required.

The ballot will say much about whether Aer Lingus, its staff and unions are on the same or very different flight paths.
