ReproMed scanning future growth plans

- Sean Pollock

REPROMED, an Irish group of fertility clinics owned by a fund linked to Andrej Babis, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, is set to expand with two new clinics next year.

The new clinics, which will focus on foetal ultrasound scanning, are to be based in the south east and the midlands. It will bring the total number of clinics owned by ReproMed to 12, which includes locations such as Dublin, Kilkenny, Drogheda and Galway, with the company also set to add around 20 new staff next year. ReproMed added five scanning clinics with its acquisition of BabyScan in June of last year. Its two main IVF treatment facilities are in Dublin and Galway.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Caitriona McPartlin, who was recently appointed as chief executive of ReproMed, said the company had strong ambitions having boosted its employment numbers to 100 recently.

“It is about focusing the company towards being an all-encompassing reproductive healthcare service provider,” she said.

“We want to start including aspects for all stages of the reproductive life-cycle. Over the next two to three years, we will start adding [new services].”

McPartlin said the company typically has a turnover of €10m a year. She added that ReproMed had projected that the group would grow by 11pc this year.

McPartlin took over the role of CEO from founder Declan Keane, who will remain as a managing partner on ReproMed’s board.

Keane is to begin a new role with ReproMed’s Czech-based parent company — FutureLife — in European business development. In 2016, he sold a 51pc stake in ReproMed to FutureLife, which is owned by investment fund Hartenberg Holding — owned by trusts linked to Babis.
