Triona’s top trends

Greetings from Schull in west Cork! We finally got back to my hometown and life’s a beach. I’m dying to tell you about a few new holiday hero products I’ve discovered this summer. I reach for them everyday when I’m packing my bag to go to the beach with Maxi, Mini and my mum, Margaret. I adore multi-purpose products, so Childs Farm 3 in 1 Swim Strawberry & Organic Mint, right, €8.75, is a must. One bottle does everything! It’s perfect after a swim in the sea or a pool as it helps remove the chlorine and chemicals from the body and leaves your skin smelling fresh and your hair super-soft. Best of all, it’s specifically formulated for children’s sensitive skin.

Meanwhile, Clarins Suncare Aftersun Shower Gel, €22, is great for an old lady like me — I’m winking at you now as I type this! This three-in-one cleansing gel for the face, body and hair gently cleans without drying the skin, and effectively removes sunscreen, salt, sand, chlorine odours and pollution. My children love stickers, so the next newbie I want to tell you about is the very clever Soltan Kids Learn to Reapply UV Detection Stickers, below, €5 for a pack of eight. These are designed with skin-mimicking technology, so the sticker will ensure that enough suncream has been applied, and will then change colour as the suncream wears off. Genius!

Back to the ould wans: Vichy Anti-Dehydration Spray for the Body SPF 50 & SPF 30, €19.50, is a newbie for me — now that I’m nearly 90! I like the handy spray bottle and how the formula works to resist salt and chlorine while preserving my skin’s hydration levels. Not forgetting its main job of protecting against the sun’s powerful UVA and UVB rays.

Bye from west Cork, the 33rd county!
