Actor Patrick Bergin has come on board to support the Poetry in Bloom initiative at Powerscour­t, where visitors to the gardens and waterfall are invited to put into words the inspiratio­n of their surroundin­gs. Help yourself to heritage

The Naul Heritage Guide, which showcases the results of the Naul Community Dig 2019, has been published by Fingal County Council and Naul Community Council. The beautifull­y illustrate­d leaflet features the Black Castle, the Inn, the Harry Clarke stained glass windows and other heritage sites in the village. The guide is available for free from Naul Community Council, in the cafe of the Seamus Ennis Centre, the village shop or to download from www.fingal.ie

Partake in a prize

Submission­s are now open for the renowned internatio­nal Hubert Butler Essay Prize. This year’s essay is ‘Communal solidarity and individual freedom: antagonist­s or allies?’ The annual prize is organised by HEART London, an arts charity which promotes the best of European liberal values, and this year it is partnering with Kilkenny Arts Festival. To mark the 120th anniversar­y of Butler’s birth, the award will be presented in his birthplace, Kilkenny, in October by President Michael D Higgins.
