TUESDAY, RTÉ ONE, 8.30PM Although we are still being encouraged to stay at home, the popular lifestyle show is back, allowing us to visit some of the country’s most stunning houses, from the comfort of our couches.
For this seventh series, returning judge Hugh Wallace is joined by two newbies – award-winning interior designer Suzie McAdam and acclaimed architect Amanda Bone. Over the next seven weeks we will see 21 amazing homes in Antrim, Clare, Cork, Dublin,
Down, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Louth and Westmeath.
Looking for individuality, functionality and clever design, the three judges will score each of the homes out of 10, with the home with the highest combined score in each programme going through to the final in April, where the ultimate winner will be crowned.
In this week’s opening edition we go through the keyholes of a re-designed early 1900s farmhouse in Co Clare, a threebedroom semi-detached home in Co Westmeath, and a modern and bespoke self-build home in the Cork countryside.
STAN & OLLIE (2019) FRIDAY, BBC ONE, 8.25PM
Laurel and Hardy are brought to life by a note-perfect Steve Coogan and John C Reilly (in astonishing latex make-up) in this charming biopic penned by Bafta-winning writer Jeff Pope.
Although the duo’s films and routines continue to be loved, copied and admired by new generations of fans, the story of their real-life relationship has not been covered in much detail – until now. Director Jon S Baird’s affectionate but probing film begins at the height of the funnymen’s pre-war pomp, when, while making Way Out West, Stan refuses to renew his contract with Hal Roach (Danny Huston).
It then flashes forward to 1953, when, years after the bitter split with the Hollywood studios, the washed-up duo embarked on a tour of Britain’s music halls.
