● Four Irish boxers bid for gold medals at the European youth championsh­ips in the Croatian town of Porec today.

Grace Conway-Dowling, Ava Henry, Kyla Doyle-Byrne and Adam Olaniyan won their respective semi-finals to assure themselves of silver at least.

Conway-Dowling (52kg) beat Madalina Grabucea from Italy 4-1 to reach the gold medal bout in which she faces Taisiia Pokusai from Ukraine.

Henry meets Ukrainian Yulia Stupakova in the 63kg final after a decisive 5-0 win over Poland’s Kinga Krowka. Another promising Dublin boxer, Doyle-Byrne, faces Romania’s Amalia Tugui in the 66kg gold final bout.

Olaniyan (92kg+) must wait until the tournament’s last bout to box for gold — he fights Armenia’s Misak Tepanyan.

● Four Ireland crews will compete in A finals at the World Cup rowing regatta in Italy today. The men’s double of

Philip Doyle and Daire Lynch won their repechage yesterday in Varese to move smoothly into the last-six shoot-out.

Sanita Puspure then finished well in her semi-final of the single sculls to take second and guarantee a reasonable lane draw in her final. Fiona Murtagh and Aifric Keogh have a straight final in the women’s pair, as crews dropped out and left just six boats to fight it out.

The men’s pair of Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney and the men’s four finished fourth in their repechages yesterday and will compete in B finals.

Konan Pazzaia put on a good show in the men’s single semi-final but also took fourth and will compete in the B Final.

● Killester stand on the cusp of a rare basketball treble with their men’s side seeking the Super League title in today’s final against Éanna (4.30) after their women’s league success this season.

Their women’s side will also claim more silverware if they beat Waterford Wildcats in the earlier Champions Trophy final (2.0) at the National Basketball Arena.
