The Irish Cancer Society is looking for volunteers in the Louth, Cavan, Monaghan and Meath areas to drive patients to and from their treatments in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and the Dublin hospitals. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drive them to the door of the hospital and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. Every Diocese in Ireland has been asked to organise their own opening ceremony for WMOF. This will happen for us on Tuesday, August 21, in Armagh. Louth ALL SET FOR 5K

Everything is in order and ready to go for this coming Sundays 5k Race and Family walk. The organiser have done Trojan work to make the day a success. All proceeds are going to the restoratio­n of the Community Centre and the hard working committee deserve all the support they can get as what they are trying to do will help the whole community. MOCHTAS DEFEAT

St. Mochtas lost to an inspired Shane Lennon Kilkerley side last Friday evening on a scoreline of 2 goals and 14 points to 1 goal and 12 points.

The score line certainly does not do justice to the Mochtas as Kilkerley scoed a goal and two points in the dying moments of the game. The large crowd were

entertaine­d to a very enjoyable which was played in a good spirit at Pairc Mochta.

DARKNESS TO LIGHT

A large contingent of St Mochtas supporters players and committee member travelled to the walk from darkness to light last Saturday morning. This was done in memory of a well respected and loved member of St. Mocthas club.

VINTAGE CLUB

The Louth Abbey Vintage Club travelled to take part in The Cooley vintage run last Sunday. They themselves are busily preparing for their own big day which takes place on May 27th. This year’s event has all the signs of being better than previous years. There are a lot of events being planned for the day and anyone wishing to set up a stall or to advertise their wares should contact any member of the committee.

There will be different competitio­n and we should have news of at least some of these events next week. An event which is attracting much interest is the jiving competitio­ns for both junior and the main competitio­n. Again anyone wishing to take part can do so on the day or if you wish contact any committee member. There are valuable for both of the competitio­ns.
