World titles for Jordan

-

DUNDALK teen Jordan Holland is taking the drug free power lifting world by storm after becoming the first teenager in 56 years to win both the senior and under 18 titles at the World Championships in Malta recently.

This is his second world title in two years, as he won the 2017 squat title in Belgium, meaning he has notched up an impressive seven world records to date.

At last month’s competition Jordan had four lifts, setting new world records with is third lift of 165.5 kg and the fourth of 170 kg.

This is a super achievement for Jordan, who lives in Cuchullainn Terrace, as he only took up power lifting a few years ago.

He trains in Oak Gym and with Barry Smith and is going into sixth year at De La Salle College.

Jordan and his parents Kevin and Laurie are very grateful for the support he has received from the team in the gym, Megapump, and the local community who backed the fund-raising event they held on May 4th

As Jordan is now preparing to compete in two more big competitions this year, the European Championships in September and the World Full Power in November, he is seeking sponsorship so that he can compete in international events.

He has already set his sights on representing Ireland in the Olympic Games so such sponsorship would be a huge help to allow him to concentrate on training when he leaves school.
