Dundalk’s Cattleboat Food Festival drew the crowds

-

THE temperature wasn’t the only thing sizzling as the Cattleboat Food Festival took place in the Spirit Store recently.

Delicious hot food and cooling beer was the order of the day as Dundalk’s first food festival proved a bit hit.

Organiser Ruairi Brown of Great Norther Larder said the numbers who made their way down to the quayside venue ‘ absolutely surpassed’ their expectations.

‘He was delighted that so many people turned up to support the event which showcased artisan food and drink producers.

‘ There was an absolutely great turnout and we were bursting at the seams, so some people who came down later in the day didn’t get as much food as we would have liked,’ he said.

‘We had Soul Bia, Unglu-d, who have gluten free products, Oriel Sea Salts, Saraj Jane Carville McGrath who provided all the desserts, Koffy coffee and The Station Works Brewery, as well as our own Great Northern Larder sauces,’ said Ruairi.

There was music with singers Ines Khai, Aoife O’Leary, Dave Jackson and Fiona O’Kane, and Clayotic fun outside for the children.

Ruairi paid tribute to Derek Turner of The Spirit Store for helping make the event a success.

And while winter is still far away, Ruairi is already thinking about festive food and warming drinks so watch this space!
