Development planned for Old Golf Links Road
A ‘multi-generational’ development is in the pipeline on a major site along the Old Golf Links Road in Blackrock.
The Argus has learned that a planning application has been lodged this week by Remcoll Capital Ltd for the development of a 14 acre site at Old Golf Links Road.
The plans include a ‘wide-ranging development’ which it is hoped will incorporate fifty houses, along with a 106 bed nursing home and an assisted living complex which is expected to feature twelve units.
The new assisted living facility is set to be operated by the HSE.
With plans at an advanced stage, if the ‘multi generational’ development is granted permission, the entire development is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
Remcoll’s Project Manager, Chris O’Connor explained:
‘We have done a lot of re- search into what is needed in the area, and the combined requirements of housing and nursing care were clear priorities.’
He added: ‘ We believe the project represents excellent use of the space and we look forward to delivering on these needs, subject to being granted permission.’
Michael Lavelle Estate Agents – who negotiated the land deal with the developers – explained that the planning application for the development has been work in progress for eighteen months.
Estate agent Joanne Lavelle commented on how significant the plans for the mixed generational development were for the area.
‘It’s important to have strategic sites like this with ambitious development plans going forward for planning permission.’
She added: ’ The locality will benefit immensely from these facilities.’
