Louth County Council has issued 65 fixed penalty notices under Operation Enable, which targets motorists who park in disabled parking bays, Director of Service, Joe McGuinness told the meeting.

Cllr Maeve Yore wanted to know if members of the public were allowed to take photos of the registration numbers of vehicles parked in disabled bays.

Chief Supt Christy Mangan said that taking photos of vehicles can be very confrontational and could give rise to GDPR issues. He advised people to notify the gardai if they saw an illegally parked vehicle. He described Operation Enable as ‘a very good initiative’ and praised the work of local disability activist John Morgan in having it implemented.
