was recovered with the exception of one bottle, costing €13.99, which had broken. McQuillan has 63 previous convictions. His solicitor Eleanor Kelly added he has had a severe addiction to alcohol since the age of 13.
He has been sober since he went into custody on 23 September, and was looking for a chance.
However, Judge Mitchell noted probation orders and suspended sentences in the past don’t seem to have had the desired effect.
He sentenced McQuillan to two months, backdated to 23 September, for the offence at Lidl and took the other matter into consideration.

Derek Brady (54), of the same address, is charged with burglary with a fire extinguisher, also at 32 Woodview Park on the same date.
A 45-year-old man accused of a number of drugs offences has had his case adjourned and been remanded on continuing bail to 28 November.
