A 25-year-old woman ‘dealing with a serious heroin problem’ has pleaded guilty to three theft charges.
Shannon Judd, Apartment 1, Failte House, Dundalk, had her case adjourned to 14 November to engage with the probation service, and Judge Mitchell said she should be ‘thinking about compensation’.
Solicitor Peter Lavery said she is dealing with a serious heroin problem and is no longer on that drug but she has difficulties with tablets and cannabis.
He added the probation service have had problems with her in the past and she was seeking a chance to engage again.
The court heard that on 16 July last in Sheba, Clanbrassil Street she stole an Apple iphone 5, valued €200; and a pair of runners worth €60.
On 20 August in Lidl, Avenue Road, Judd took clothing and footwear, amounting to €35.46.
None of the property was recovered, and the judge was also told the defendant is appealing the severity of previous convictions.
