Hoban breaks record

PAT Hoban’s late goal against St Pa­trick’s Ath­letic on Fri­day night not only se­cured the league ti­tle for Dun­dalk but it also broke the Premier Divi­sion scor­ing record. This was his 26th in the league this sea­son, bet­ter­ing the 25 pre­vi­ously man­aged by Richie Tow­ell, Ja­son Byrne and Glen Crowe. He now has 29 in all com­pe­ti­tions this sea­son. Fri­day’s goal was his 60th in the league for Dun­dalk, which seen him sur­pass Jimmy Hasty to be­come the stand alone sec­ond all-time lead­ing league goalscorer in the club’s his­tory. He also moved into the top 10 in the club’s all-time scor­ing list hav­ing moved level with Peadar Walsh on 71 goals. Four­teen of Hoban’s 26 league goals this sea­son have been the first for Dun­dalk in a game.
