Hoban breaks record
PAT Hoban’s late goal against St Patrick’s Athletic on Friday night not only secured the league title for Dundalk but it also broke the Premier Division scoring record. This was his 26th in the league this season, bettering the 25 previously managed by Richie Towell, Jason Byrne and Glen Crowe. He now has 29 in all competitions this season. Friday’s goal was his 60th in the league for Dundalk, which seen him surpass Jimmy Hasty to become the stand alone second all-time leading league goalscorer in the club’s history. He also moved into the top 10 in the club’s all-time scoring list having moved level with Peadar Walsh on 71 goals. Fourteen of Hoban’s 26 league goals this season have been the first for Dundalk in a game.
