Anto marks his 50th birthday with big party

TOALES BAR THE VENUE FOR A SPECIAL NIGHT

-

ON Saturday night I headed for Toales Bar where a special 50th birthday party was taking place for Anto Mackin from Castle Road and there to make sure he had a fantastic night was his partner Michelle Hearty from Lios Dubh, brothers Jimmy and wife Mary, Peadar and wife Breda, Gearoid and wife Helen, sister Bronagh and husband Michael Carolan and huge collection of family and friends.

Anto, who works in The Marshes and is a Sean O’Mahony’s stalwart, told me he had had enough of the cards and wanted anyone attending to donate to the Birches on the night.

I then headed over for a word with two of his workmates Vladimisrs Mihailovs from Millstream Apartments and Kzzysztof Plenzier from College Manor who wanted to wish Anto all the best on his big night.

Heading for one of the tables I then got talking to Tracy and Colm O’Hanrahan, Bronagh Clarke and Gerry Redmond all from Point Road who said they’ve friends with Anto for years and certainly weren’t going to miss out on the night.

Also in their company were Fiona Dunne and Martin ‘Chucky’ Connor both from Woodbury Gardens Catriona Murphy from Cooley who said she was there on the night with Uncle Peter and her fiancée Vincy Kane from Kilcoo and wanted to say ‘up the Magpies’.

Not too far away I then caught up with the future Micheal and Majella O’Callaghan who will be getting married next week, best wishes and I hope you have a long life of happiness together.

Next I got talking to Susan O’Neill from Muirhevnamor who was there with Jim, Barry and Lisa whom she said all know Anto through following The Sean’s.

After this I met up with two lads who told me they were James Clarke from Mount Avenue a and Mickey Clarke from Lower Point Road and James said he couldn’t stay long because he had golf in the morning.

Heading for another table I then got a word with Kirsty Hoey from Rockmarshall and Danielle Dowdall from Lisdoo who were sitting having a laugh with Anto’s godmother Anne Dowdall from Cluan Enda who wanted to wish him all the best on his big night.

Just arrived in the door was competitive cousin Kevin Mackin from Woodville Manor who was with wife Rosette and daughter Carly and he just wanted to say to Anto ‘I was 50 before you ha ha ha!’

I then got a word with Anto’s partner Michelle Hearty from Lios Dubh who was having a laugh with her sister Mags O’Hagan from Coulter Place and assured me it was going to be a mad night for sure.

Just arrived in the door was Sean’s secretary and wife Peter and Cecilia Sage from Kilkerley who said it was sure to get messy.

I then headed over for a word with Bronagh and Darren Mackin from Carlingford who arrived in with Martin and Aisling Connolly from Mill Road and were up for making the best of Anto’s big night.

Finally, before I departed I got talking to Gerry Redmond who was with Bronagh Larkin both from Pointy Road and he said even if the night was going to be a good, the afters in Tom Clarke’s on the Sunday would take on epic proportions
