up a good fight this year.

‘We just had a bad spell around September where things weren’t quite going our way and that was where we lost the league really.

‘Dundalk haven’t really slipped up at all this year to be fair to them. I know they had a few draws early on but they were keeping clean sheets and getting points on the board whereas we probably left a few games behind us around September.’

Keohane insists form will go out the window once the sides take to the field on Sunday.

‘It’s a special occasion the cup final. ‘It’s a one-off game and anything can happen. Last year we had just got over the finish line with the league and Dundalk were actually in good form at the end of the season so it’s quite similar to last year now but it’s a one-off game so anything can happen. Form goes out the window and you’ve just got to enjoy the occasion as much as you can.

‘There’s a lot of focus on Dundalk’s form. They won the league by quite a few points this year but we’re not just going to roll over on Sunday. We’ll be going out to put in a strong performance.

‘Three cups in-a-row, I don’t think that has been done in the history of the club before so it’s a massive incentive for us and we’re all looking forward to it.

‘There’s never a lot in these matches and especially in a cup final no one wants to be the player that slips up so they can be quite tense but you’ve just got to play with the shackles off and try to make things happen. We need to create more chances than we did the last time against Dundalk and just put in a good performance really,’ he said.
