GARDAI have issued a warning for people to secure their homes if they are going out. THIS follows four burglaries over the weekend which saw break-ins at a house, a building site, and a factory premises in Dundalk and a house in Carlingford, which are being investigated by local gardai.

‘We are reminding people to be vigilant, especially now with the dark evenings,’ said a garda spokesperson.

People should make sure that the front and back doors are secured at all time and if they are going out, to put on the burglar alarm.’

‘If people are going to be out of the house when it’s dark, they should leave a light on and perhaps leave a radio or television on as a deterrent.’

He also advised against keeping substantial amounts of money at home, saying that people should lodge money in the bank or credit union.

‘People should also be careful as to where they keep car keys,’ he said.
