Sec­tion of N53 shut un­til De­cem­ber 7th

A sec­tion of the N53 will now be closed un­til De­cem­ber 7th, af­ter Louth County Coun­cil con­firmed an ex­ten­sion to the tem­po­rary clo­sure.

In a state­ment Louth County Coun­cil gave no­tice of its ‘in­ten­tion to ex­tend the du­ra­tion of the ad­ver­tised road clo­sure to Fri­day 7th De­cem­ber 2018 to fa­cil­i­tate ma­jor road re­con­struc­tion works.’

The clo­sure will af­fect the N53 from Hack­ballscross to Ras­san. The di­ver­sion route for west bound traf­fic (Dun­dalk to Castle­blaney) is as fol­lows: From Hack­ballscross ( junc­tion of N53 with LP-31250) travel south­east along the N53 to junc­tion 17 on the M1 Mo­tor­way. En­ter the M1 Mo­tor­way and travel south, ex­it­ing at Junc­tion 16, en­ter the N52 (Dun­dalk to Ardee Road) and con­tinue into Ardee. Turn right off the Dun­dalk Road round­about for the N2 (Derry Road) and con­tinue to Castle­blaney, via Car­rick­macross.

For traf­fic trav­el­ling in an east­bound di­rec­tion, the above route in re­verse will ap­ply.

A com­mit­ment has been given to pro­vide lo­cal ac­cess along the route, where this is prac­ti­cal.
