New school ex­ten­sion opened

The Board of Man­age­ment of St. Peter’s NS, Dromiskin of­fi­cially opened their new school ex­ten­sion on Wed­nes­day 24 Oc­to­ber.

The ex­ten­sion com­prised two new class­rooms, re­source room, toi­let for as­sisted users along with up­grades to of­fices and stor­age space.

Also com­pleted dur­ing the sum­mer were class­room toi­let up­grades and ceil­ing re­place­ments in the old build­ing with ren­o­va­tion of ex­ist­ing staff/pub­lic fa­cil­i­ties.

Pre­sent at the open­ing cer­e­mony was consultant ar­chi­tect on the project, Paraic McKe­vitt and rep­re­sen­ta­tives from main con­trac­tors, Neacy Me­chan­i­cal and Electrical from Dun­leer.

Both were com­mended for ser­vices ren­dered by Fr Pat McEn­roe Chair­per­son of the Board of Man­age­ment at the cer­e­mony at­tended by a large gath­er­ing. Fr McEn­roe also lauded the pa­tience and sup­port of teach­ers, pupils and par­ents over the past year be­fore bless­ing the new build­ing.

The cel­e­bra­tions were pre­ceded by the an­nual School mass in St. Peter’s Chapel and fol­lowed by re­fresh­ments in the school hall pro­vided by the Par­ents’ Com­mit­tee.

Cl­llr. Liam Reilly, Chair­man, Louth County Coun­cil, with mem­bers of the Par­ents’ Coun­cil, Lau­reen O’Con­nor, Imelda Whyte, Emma Mc­Quil­lan and Michelle Far­relly mak­ing a €12,727 cheque pre­sen­ta­tion to Prin­ci­pal, Pat Mul­li­gan at the of­fi­cial open­ing the sec­ond ex­ten­sion at St. Peter’s Na­tional School, Dromiskin. The money was raised when the Par­ents’ Coun­cil held a Black Tie Gala fundraiser in Belling­ham Cas­tle.
