A 26-year-old man accused of ramming a garda vehicle, and other charges, has been returned for trial.

Conor Molloy, 48 St Oliver’s Park, Kilsaran, had a book of evidence served on him, and Sgt Fintan McGroder said the DPP consents to a return for trial to Dundalk circuit criminal court on 20 November.

The defendant was given legal aid for a solicitor, barrister and senior counsel.

He is charged with deliberate­ly colliding at speed with a stationary unmarked garda patrol car, driven by a garda, at Gibstown, Dundalk; damaging a Garda Hyundai i40 car at Newtownbal­regan and damaging a Garda Ford Mondeo at Gibstown.

Molloy is further accused of damaging a Garda Ford Focus at The Commons, Dromiskin and of unlawful possession of cocaine at Dundalk garda station.

All of the offences are alleged to have occurred on 31 January, 2018.
