GAA will remain nervous until hurdle is jumped
THERE is disappointment if not dismay, that Louth County Council have postponed a decision to sell land in Dundalk for the development of a new county ground for Louth.
There had been an expectation that the sale of the land would proceed this month after it had been withdrawn from the October meeting, but uncertainty over the legal ambiguity of the Section 183 notice caused the Chief Executive to withdraw the matter.
It is understood that a number of letters had been received by the Council since the October meeting with queries and that this may have prompted the decision to withdraw the proposed sale.
Given all that has happened in relation to the County Grounds for Louth GAA in Drogheda over the years, there will be nervousness in GAA circles until this first hurdle in providing the stadium is jumped.
