BEST selling author John Connolly was in town last Thursday to lend his support to local book shop owner Tom Muckian, who opened Roe River Books in a new larger premises earlier this year.

The Dublin-born author delighted audiences as he read from his works, including excerpts from his new novel Book of Bones, due for release next April.

The was the latest event hosted in the bookshop, and Tom says he hopes to hold more in the future, given the positive response from customers.

Having opened his first bookshop in Clanbrassil Street back in the late ‘eighties, Tom got back in the book trade after working as a civil engi- neer, when he bought the then Carrolls Educational Books in 2007.

Moving to a larger premises, he expanded the stock beyond schoolbooks, and as the business grew, decided to relocate to yet bigger premises this year.

The new premises includes a dedicated section for schoolbooks, as well as comfortable seating and a coffee dock for customers.
