SYMPATHY

Everyone especially the older residents were saddened to hear of the death of two of our older residents last week.

The first was Christina Matthews, Priorstate, Louth whose death occurred on Monday 12th November peacefully at Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda. Even though Christina has left the village for some time she was well remembered and respected by all. Indeed Christina will be remembered has a friendly good natured person who always had a smile. It was always a pleasure to meet her and as she lived beside the football field she was always willing to help the club with parking.

Christina’s popularity was very much in evidence by the large number who attended her wake and then her funeral Mass which took place in The Church Of The Immaculate Conception Louth last Thursday 14th November were the Celebrant was Fr. Sean McArdle P.P. Louth. And the Eulogy was delivered by her Son Finbar. Christina is predecease­d by her husband Jack and Sons Francis Patrick and Owen. She will be sadly missed by all who knew but especially her sons Finbar and Sean her Daughters Una, Catherine and Imelda grand children great grand children sons in law daughters in law nephews nieces relatives and friends tom whom we send our deepest sympathy.

Then on last Thursday 15th of November the news of Sister Monica Linden SSl St Louis convent Carrickmac­ross and late of Green Road Louth peacefully in Dealgan House Nursing home Dundalk.

Again Sister Monica will be remembered as a friendly good natured person who dedicated her life to her religious Order but always stayed in close contact with her family and when needed was always there to help in any way. When at home with the family she was a regular at all ceremonies in the Church, St Monica remains were waked in Dealgan House and then removed after Rosary to The Church Of The Immaculate Conception Louth on Friday evening.

Her funeral Mass took place on Saturday in the church and burial to adjoining cemetery The Chief Celebrant of the Mass was Fr Sean Mc Ardle P.P. Louth.

Also in attendance werte two S.M.A. priests of which Sister Monica’s brother Fr. Tommy was i n that order. Monicas popularity was in evidence on all occasions by the large number in attendance at all times including fellow members of her order She is survived by her Brother Michael nephews nieces relatives also her St Louis community sisters in religion and many friends to whom we send her deepest sympathy.

GREEN FLAG RAISING

Stonetown national School are having their Green Flag raising ceremony on Wednesday 21st November from 2 to 3pm. Local celebrity Ruairi O’Connor is rais- ing the flag. All are welcome for a chat and a cuppa afterwards. We congratula­te them.

COMMUNITY CENTRE WORK

The work on the community Centre is coming on fine and the committee would like to remind you of the draw they are running to raise money to help defray the cost of this work. Tickets are on sale price €5 and prizes are first prize €50 in cash 2nd prize Deluxe hamper and third prize will be Turkey and Ham. Santa will draw the winning ticket on the day which is on the 9th December and Santa is arriving at 5pm by Fire Brigade. Also there will be loads of spot prizes on the day. That day the Parade of lights starts at the Fair Green at 4.30pm and all are welcome.

CLUB AGM

St.Mochtas will be reviewing a very successful season when they hold their A.G.M. in their clubrooms on Friday 30th November at 8pm sharp. Nomination and motion forms are currently available and should be completed and returned to either Eddie Murphys or Patsy Finnegans by this coming Friday 23rd November.
