A 28-year-old man who an­swered a par­tic­u­lar ques­tion dur­ing a garda in­ter­view with ‘no com­ment’ has avoided a con­vic­tion on a charge of fail­ing to give in­for­ma­tion.

In­stead, the mat­ter against James King, 3 Rock­field Park, Ardee was struck out af­ter he made a €200 do­na­tion to Ardee Day Care Cen­tre.

Garda Niall McIn­tyre said the de­fen­dant replied ‘no com­ment’ when a ques­tion was put to him un­der the Road Traf­fic Act at Dundalk garda sta­tion on 2 May, 2017.
