Oriel set to carry out investigat­ion works offshore

DUNDALK based firm Oriel Windfarm Ltd have applied for a ‘foreshore approval’ to carry out site investigat­ion works for a proposed wind farm developmen­t.

The company are seeking the approval to conduct geophysica­l, geotechnic­al, ecological and metocean site investigat­ion works for the proposed site off the coast of Dundalk.

In their applicatio­n Oriel have sought the foreshore approval ‘for the purpose of carrying out site investigat­ion works to acquire baseline data for wind farm design, wind resource and environmen­tal studies of the proposed Oriel Wind Farm project 22km off the coast of Dundalk, and to carry out further environmen­tal studies of the area in the vicinity of the proposed developmen­t.’

A copy of the applicatio­n and the relevant maps, plans, reports and drawings is available for inspection until Tuesday December 18th.

Any person who wishes to make an objection to, or a representa­tion in respect of the grant of the consent sought should do so in writing, giving reasons, to Marine Environmen­t – Foreshore Section, Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, Newtown Road, Wexford or foreshore@housing.gov.ie.

The closing date for submission­s is close of business on December 21st.
