Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) welcomed more than 65 companies from across the region of North Leinster-South Ulster to its campus to take part in its annual Careers & Industry Fair 2018. The event provided an opportunity for students to meet face-to-face with top graduate employers across a variety of industries including Accountancy & Finance, Business, Computing, Construction, Engineering & Technology, Social Sciences, Hospitality, Health and Science.
Coordinated by the Careers & Employability Office at the Institute, the Careers Fair 2018 is the flagship event on the careers calendar for DkIT students. DkIT President, Michael Mulvey, PhD commenced proceedings by thanking the organisations for their participation in the fair.
‘It is wonderful to have such a diverse array of organisations here today, from large multinationals to local SME’s. This is highly representative of the industry landscape in our region at this time which presents many interesting and exciting career opportunities for our graduates.
Through our consultation with industry, we know that DkIT graduates are in high demand by employers due to a combination on their strong knowledge of theory and practical skills related to their disciplines. Last year, 94% of our graduates secured employment or entered full-time study within 9 months of graduation and we know that 89% remained in the North Leinster-South Ulster. This is an immensely powerful injection of talent, bringing new ideas, skills and energy to industry across the region. Opportunities such as today’s Careers Fair are crucial in helping our students make informed decisions about their future and assisting them to prepare for successful careers ahead.’
