Faughart CHRISTMAS APPEAL

St Vincent de Paul (St Brigid’s Conference) are making an appeal to the wider community for their help this Christmas.

Most of us preparing for Christmas is a matter of deciding what to buy and for whom: but for those struggling to survive on tiny, inadequate amounts of money, these people, our neighbours, family, parishioners, already not able to heat their houses, or deciding what time of day to eat their only food, it is unthinkable how hard it would be, in this situation, to try to make a loved one smile on Christmas morning, to try to make Christmas a memorable one for the children. These people carry such a burden, struggling so qui- etly in the background that those of us lucky enough to be able to save for Christmas are unable to understand.

While all donations are always greatly appreciated, this Christmas we are focussing as much as possible on financial contributions from people, as we can then tailor to the individual needs of each person/family who seek help at this stressful time of year.

Please dig deep now, make an extra effort early before Christmas so the volunteers can get the help where it is needed in time. Remember 100% of every penny and every item collected will be given to the needy in this parish. The Christmas collection will take place after Communion on Sat 1st and Sun 2nd December. Contact St Vincent de Paul Society on 087 2520382.

CONDOLENCES

The parish and indeed the whole area were saddened by the news of the death of two of the areas oldest and most respected residents.

On Sunday 25th November the death took place of Tom Martin, Monvallet Louth peacefully in Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital. Tom will be sorely missed by all who knew him but especially his family to whom we send our deepest sympathy. Tom’s popularity was certainly in evidence both at his wake and again at his funeral Mass which took place in The Church Of The Immaculate Conception Louth where the Celebrant was Fr. Sean McArdle P.P. Louth.

Tom was predeceased by hi s brother Jim and Sister Alice. He is survived by his wife Anna, daughters Margaret, Mary, Bernadette, Barbara and Anne Sons Colm, James and Thomas, sister, brothers, grandchildren, sons in law, daughters in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends to whom we send our deepest sympathy.

The death also occurred last week of Matt Hoey, Tallanstown but late of Ravanny, Louth also in Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital on Monday 26th November.

Matt will be sadly missed especially by his wife Madge and his sister Lilly. The esteem Matt was held in was very much in evidence at both his wake and funeral Mass in the Church of St. Peter and Paul, Tallanstown and afterwards his burial to Louth cemetery. We send our deepest sympathy to his wife, nephews, nieces, friends and relatives.

Both men will be sadly missed in the area.
