Tara comes home for one concert

DESCRIBED by the The New York Times as having ‘a beautifully formed mezzo-soprano voice’ Ravensdale singing sensation, Tara Erraught returns to her home county for a very special concert in Drogheda on Thursday December. 13th.
With a wide repertoire Tara enjoys an ever-growing international career on the opera, orchestra and recital stages. Since her last performance in Drogheda, Tara has gone on to have leading roles at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and feature on a Deutsche Gramophone’s live recording of Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito.
A former pupil of singing teacher Geraldine McGee, Tara continued her studies with Dr Veronica (Ronnie) Dunne in Dublin before taking up a position in the Opera Studio of Bayerische Staatsoper in 2008. Since then, she has taken the operatic world by storm. In 2011, she made headlines and gained worldwide attention when she stepped in with fivedays’ notice, learning the role of Romeo in Bellini’s’I Capuleti e i Montecchi’ for the Bayerische Staatsoper. During her time as resident prinicpal soloist with the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, she was awarded the prestigious Promeritis scientiae et litterarum (2013) from the Bavarian government in recognition for outstanding contribution to the arts.
As her star continues to rise, she has sung world premieres, made numerous role debuts, and appeared in recitals and concerts throughout the United States, Canada, Denmark, France, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
This is Tara’s first season as a freelance singer and she has just finished a three month tour with Welsh National Opera, singing the role of Angelina in their production of Rossini’s ‘Cenerentola’ to enthusiastic reviews.
During a break from touring she also managed to fit in two recital debuts at the Oxford Lieder Festival with Sholto Kynoch and at the Pembroke College Cambridge song series with Joseph Middleton.
She has just returned to Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich to sing in their upcoming productions of Cosi Fan Tutti, Hansel and Gretel, and Don Giovanni.
After that she will be returning to the United States in February 2019, where she will joining the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s classical series as well as two concerts with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Her concert on in St Peter’s Church of Ireland, Drogheda, is her only Irish appearance this winter.
It sees her joined by one of Ireland’s foremost pianists Dearbhla Collins and clarinettist, Ulrich Pluta to perform Schubert’s glorious Shepherd on the Rock, well known operatic arias Lascia chio Pianga, Mozart’s Parto Parto plus seasonal specials including O Holy Night.
