ST PATRICKS DIOCESAN MEDAL

Congratula­tions to Jacinta and Mickey Kelly on receiving a St Patricks Medal, from Armagh Diocese in acknowledg­ement for their work, dedication and commitment to Kilkerley Parish over the years.

Fr Gerry Campbell made the special presentati­on during the Christmas Vigil Mass. The St Patricks Medal was commission­ed to recognise those within the diocese of Armagh who have made an outstandin­g contributi­on to the church.

Also at the vigil mass Fr Gerry thanked Barney Sharkey, Carrickrob­in for donating one of his most recent paintings to the Parish.

DANCING

Dancing returns on Sunday next January 6, with music by Brian McDermott, Twice Shy play on January 13, Showbud play on January 20 and Curtis Magee on January 27. Dancing from 9.00pm to midnight. Wishing all our patrons a great 2019.

JIVE CLASSES

Beginners Jive classes take place Kilkerley Community Centre each Tuesday evening at 7.30 pm and also each Tuesday evening Pilates takes place in the Centre at 6.30pm. Contact 0851048491 for details.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Friday from 6.30p.m.-7.30p.m.

Condolence­s to the family and extended family of Margaret Brady (née Donnelly) Donaghmore, Carrick Road and Central Bar, Clanbrassi­l Street who was laid to rest in Kilkerley Cemetery on Monday of this week New Year’s Eve, also to Ethel and Pat McElroy and family, Cortial, on the death of Ethel’s twin sister Olive Reid, Avenue Road, Dundalk who was laid to rest in St Patrick’s Cemetery on Christmas Eve.

Anyone interested in travelling to Lourdes on the Armagh Diocesan Pilgrimage from May 16 to May 21, 2019, are reminded that we are already making travel plans so please get in touch with any Committee member. This year we are in a position to assist with the costs involved and are offering 2 fully paid fares to anyone who is or has been ill. The look of immense pride and joy on his face as a proud Wexford man welcoming both Faythe Harriers and Oulart the Ballagh for Leinster Senior Championsh­ip matches to a club he helped form will forever live in the memory of all of us who have been privileged enough to have either coached beside or played for Aiden. He was waked at his home in Grange on Wednesday, December 26, with funeral mass and burial in Knockbridg­e on Thursday last December 27. Ar dheis de go raibh a hanam dilis.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Mondays from 10.00am to 10.00pm in the Church followed by Benedictio­n at 10.00p.m. Confession­s are available on Mondays before 7.30 Mass and from 9.30pm10.00pm, at the end of Eucharist Adoration, and at any time by request. CANCER SOCIETY

The Irish Cancer Society is looking for volunteers in the Louth, Cavan, Monaghan and Meath areas to drive patients to and from their treatments in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and the Dublin hospitals. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drive them to the door of the hospital and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again.
