IT has been a challenging close season up in Oriel Park, far more so than anyone ever could have envisaged when the team sealed their second league and cup double in four seasons.

The departure of Stephen Kenny, the announcement that Fyffes would not be sponsoring the team and the time lapse before Stephen Kenny’s successor was announced.

However in the last week, despite the shock news that Mal Brannigan was departing as Chief Executive, there has been much more positive news with the announcement of a managerial team led by Vinny Perth and the u-turn that Fyffes will indeed sponsor the Lilywhites for the next two seasons.

Last Saturday the players returned for pre-season training in their newly appointed gym and suddenly everyone is looking forward to the action on the field and the season ahead.
