Avenue’s sights on dethroning Cabin in decider

AFTER the Christmas break, it was back to action in the Dundalk and District Dart League last week where the semi-finals of the divisional cups took centre stage.

The Premier Division action all took place in Blackrock, with both teams from Uncle Toms having home advantage in their semis.

Holders Uncle Toms Cabin are back in the final after a hard-earned 5-2 victory over a resolute Punters Sharks outfit, with John Lawlor and Owen Caffrey on top form. Bob Morgan and Shane McArdle were the pick of the vanquished Sharks team.

In the final they will play their nearest challenger­s Avenue Celtic who had a comfortabl­e 5-0 win over the other Uncle Toms team.

The Division One final will be between Commercial Classics and Harrys Bar.

The Commercial overcame the Stags Head 5-2, with John O’Brien playing a starring role along with Mark Flynn, while Chris Lennon and Ian Rooney led the way for Harrys in their 5-1 defeat of the Punters Pumas.

League leaders in Division One the Punters Panthers moved five points clear of the pack with a 4-2 win over the Bodhran Blues in a fixture postponed from before Christmas.

Divusion Two’s final will be a clash between the Bodhran Hawks and the Castle Bar.

The Hawks got the better of Commercial Celtic by a 5-2 margin, with Stephen Crosby the star performer, while Barry Dillon was the hero in the Seatown side’s epic 5-4 victory over Courtneys.

It’s back to league action this week, with a full programme scheduled for Thursday night.
