- Michael McKenna 1952-2018 Arthur Mullen.

MICHAEL McKenna, who died suddenly at his home on 18 December, 2018, was born, and lived all his life, in Corrakit, Omeath.

He was the fourth child of the late Patrick and Evelyn McKenna, and dear brother of Briege, Newry; Pat, School Lane, Dunleer; Margaret, Australia and Monica, Glenmore.

He went to school locally in Ardaghy and worked all his life on the family farm. He had a great passion for farming; loved his animals and often had names for his favourites.

Michael had many great friends in the farming community which was most evident during the foot and mouth crisis.

Although a bachelor, he valued family and was a muchloved and generous uncle and great grand uncle. Undoubtedly, he will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by neighbouring families too.

Michael was a great character, good humoured, quick-witted and loved playing practical jokes. He continued to live in an era removed from too much technology.

He truly valued the company and time spent with others, and was often to be found at his gate conversing to his good friends and neighbours.

Indeed, those now passing or rambling through the beautiful landscape of the Long Woman’s Grave, which he knew like the back of his hand, will miss the welcoming light of his home.

He will be sadly missed by his sorrowing brother, sisters, sister-in-law, Mary, brothersin-law, Martin and Kevin, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

After reposing at the residence of his sister, Monica, Michael was removed on the Friday to Saint Laurence’s Church, Omeath for funeral Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Michael’s Months Mind Mass will be celebrated in Saint Laurence’s Church, Omeath, on Sunday, 20 January at 10am. Arthur Mullen

ARTHUR Mullen, Feede, Mountpleasant, Dundalk, who has died, was a widely respected local businessman.

He passed away peacefully on 19 December, 2018, surrounded by his loving family in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Arthur was a kind, genuine and generous man who always had a story or joke to share, and his quick-witted one-liners are still told by many people.

To say he was an animal lover is an understatement. He loved all animals, dogs, horses, birds and everything in between.

His family is very appreciative of the care and support of the Beaumont and Lourdes hospitals, and of the help of all the neighbours and friends at this heart-breaking time.

Arthur’s family is going to miss him dearly. His decency, wisdom, and kind soul will stay with them forever.

He was the best father a son or daughter could ever have. Even in their grief, they smile knowing he is hugging his son, Patrick again. ‘Good night, and God bless.’ Arthur is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Yvonne, Adrian and Arthur; nine grandchildren, Jodie, Victoria, Alexandra, Dean, Megan, Anna-Mai, Zofia, Miki and Claudia.

He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mai; son, Patrick and brother, Mick.

The Month’s Mind Mass takes place at 6pm on Saturday, 19 January, 2018 in Jonesborough church.
