Glenmore AC celebrate 50 years
2019 marks the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Glenmore AC, and the club plan to mark it in various ways.
The club started its now yearly Operation Bush4mation program on Monday last, January 7. This is a four-week fitness and mindfulness program that will kick start your year. Please visit Operationbush4mation Facebook page to see full program of events.
The annual Kearney and McBride Cup Races with a senior 5k will be on Sunday, March 3, at Bush. Saturday June 8 will see the 10-mile challenge and the 10k road race in the valley of Glenmore.
On Friday August 2 the club will have its Michael Fearon and Kevin Marron 5k road race in Carlingford. For those of you who were involved in the past, all these race names will bring back fond memories and for those reasons they ask that past and present members come together to take part in these races.
This year the club will have a commemorative 50 year medal to mark this great occasion started by its founders, Owen McCann (RIP) Danny Ferguson, Mickey McBride (RIP) Kevin Barry and Vincey Savage in 1969 when they gave them the roots to form the club that they now are.
Many members over the years have nourished their work to give the club the passion to continue to provide athletic
winners; Adele Wollard c/o Sheelan’s Shop, Rosaleen O’Neill c/o Tommy McCann and Geoffrey Hoey.
This week’s jackpot is €8,600 and tickets can be purchased from local shops, committee members and online. facilities for all.
All at Glenmore AC ask you all now to spread the word on this momentous year and to encourage those past and present to take part in their celebrations.
The club plan to put a booklet together and theyask that you share your memories on our Facebook page ‘Glenmore Golden Anniversary’ or contact club members with pictures and memories from their fifty years. They also propose to have a night of celebrations in October.
So, let’s get moving and celebrate with our other clubs from Dunleer and Bohermeen who are also celebrating 50 years of a milestone!
