CASTLE BAR THE VENUE FOR A GREAT NIGHT OUT

-

ON Friday night I headed for the Castle Bar where a special 30th birthday party was being held for Emma Singleton from Windmill Court and a good crowd had turned out specially to help her celebrate it.

Emma, who was part of the All Ireland winning Louth Ladies team from 2015, is now a trainer in Curves women’s gym on the Coes Road was there on the night with her sister Claire Murphy and parents Frank and Marion Singleton who had all travelled down from Dublin specially for the night and were looking forward to a good old Dundalk celebration.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I caught up with the birthday girl who was looking extremely well and she told me not to forget that Curves are doing a special price fee for joining until the end of January and that includes a free week as well! Free adds, don’tcha just love ‘ em.

I then headed over to one of the tables where I had the pleasure of talking to Mean McCarthy from Point Road who was looking forward to a good night and wanted to wish her friend Emma a very happy birthday.

Beside Mena, I met Jennifer Harrison from Newtownbalregan who also works in the gym and said they were all that dedicated to their training that they were drinking water on the night. Musta been various coloured water, I thought?

Also in the girl’s company was Emma’s boss Sibeal Monaghan from Point Road who told me she was delighted to be there for the party and that Emma is really dedicated to her work, but looked a bit more dedicated to partying on the night. She was having a great night with fellow employee Paula Duff from Drumcar who wanted to make sure that Emma had a totally insane night.

Heading for yet another table I then met up with the happy couple of Una Pearson from Seatown and Paul Quigley from Belfast. Una told me she has been a long time friend and fellow housemate of Emma’s but was having a great laugh at the sign she found that said #legend!

Not too long later I caught up with two ladies who were in great form who were Emma’s sister Claire and Grainne Boyle from Stapleton Place who described herself as an honorary DkIT CSL member who said she never went to college with Emma but spent plenty of time with her during those epic days.

Seated close by were Sinead Byrne and Karl Johnston both from Tallaght who were down to have a nice quiet celebration with their long time friend. All I could do was guess they must have been at the wrong party!

After this I met up with Pearl Cosgrave from Meath who told me she had completed the Community Sports Leadership course with Emma and couldn’t believe they had managed to get through it. She said she was delighted to be there for her friend.

Just arrived in the door were Emma’s adopted mum Ann Meade from Drogheda and Amanda Lynn from Ardee. The ladies told me they were chairperson and secretary of the triumphant Louth Ladies team that won the All Ireland in 2015 and were delighted to be there to celebrate with her.

Finally, before I departed, I met up with Emma’s friend Ciara Clarke from Happy Valley who was with Cian Tyrrell from Drumcondra and they wanted to wish Emma very happy 30th and hoped she had a fantastic night.
