GLAMOUROUS NIGHT OF FUN AT GRAMMAR GRAD

-

On Friday night I headed for the Ballymascanlon Hotel where the Dundalk Grammar School Graduation Ball was being held and by the time I got there the place was packed with party revelling couples.

I was only in the door when I met up with Jamie Gogan from Drogheda who had brought Laoise Dunne Ward originally from Galway but now living in Drogheda who told me they were looking forward to a really great night.

Not too far away I then got a word with Finn Reilly from Blackrock who had asked Emma Cheshire from Monasterboice and were both looking extremely well and assured me they’d do their best to make the night a huge success.

Meanwhile over at one of the tables I then got talking to Conor Rice who was down from Dublin and was on the arm of the lovely Lucy Kinneally from Castlebellingham and they were armed and ready for a night of fun together.

After this I headed over for a word with SNA Mairead Malone from Drogheda who had brought Shane Smith also from Drogheda who was on his best behaviour and he told me he’d be in need of assistance later on and couldn’t think of anyone nicer to help him than Mairead.

Making my way through the crowds I then met up with Caragh O’Reilly and Fintan Logue both from Dunleer and they said they were definitely looking forward to a mad one with all their friends.

Easily the furthest travelled to be there on the night award went to Brigid Slevin who used to live in Darver but now resides in New York and had travelled back specially to be there for her ‘ very special friend’ Sean Durnin from Knockbridge, and no I refrained from the joke about an expensive taxi home for Brigid!

Not too long later I caught up with Penny Morris from Blackrock who was there with Ucheibeh also from Blackrock and assured me it was going to be an insane night.

After this I headed over for a quick word with Tadhg Cunningham from Lower Point Road who was on his best behaviour because the lovely Leah Curley from Greenacres had brought him and she said they were on for a mad one together for sure.

Heading for one of the tall tables I got a quick word with Tom Morris from Dunleer and Ruairi McKeown from Carlingford who told me they hadn’t bothered with any female accompaniment because they were ‘ hell bent on a lads night out’ and felt the ladies just might slow them down.

I then headed for another table where I got talking to Ayiesha Marron Boyle from Essexford who was Ife Folikwe from Lios Dubh who were looking extremely well together and were ready to party the night away with Carolyn Matthews from Louth Village and Aoibheanna Campbell from Dunleer who eventually told me she was actually there with Cillian Jevins from Lordship and that Carolyn was with Jingxi Wu from Blackrock, but I felt the lads had a bit of work to do to stop a girls night out, losing their ladies.

One man who was looking exceptionally well on the night was Niall McBride from Knockbridge who was flying solo and was more interested in mingling with everyone there and having a laugh while he was doing it.

At an adjacent I had the pleasure of talking to three ladies who were looking exceptionally well and they were Chidera Okoh from Tallaght, Ruth Wangaruro from Avenue Road and Zoha Khan originally from Pakistan but now from Dublin and they assured me this was definitely going to be a major girls night out.

Next, I caught up with Board of Governors member Philip Keegan from Carrickmacross who had brought Michelle McHugh also from Carrickmacross and when I asked him if it was going to be a wild and crazy night, he replied ‘no more of a refined, respectable evening’ but he did say he expected his son Leon Keegan who was with Amy Buckley also from Carrickmacross would fit more comfortably into the other category.

I then managed a swift word with one of the busiest men in the place Dave Symmons who was the main organiser and was going around making sure the night ran as smoothly as possible.

Easily the award for the best tuxedo of the evening had to go to Johnny Woods from Drogheda, the white trim really set it apart from all the rest. He told me it was going to be nothing short of an epic night and he had brought along wingman Colum Kierans also from Drogheda to make sure it was.
